About Us

A small group of veterans became concerned about the lack of patriotism in our community and in central Illinois; sparse attendance at Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades and ceremonies, fewer American flags were seen displayed on businesses and homes.  This lack of patriotism became the topic of meetings and several  ideas were on the drawing board.  Then the tragic events of September 11th changed all that.  Our National Motto "UNITED WE STAND'" returning to the forefront of our thoughts.

And so, from that tragedy, the FIFTY AMERICAN FLAGS LIVING MEMORIAL  became a reality with the help of the generous citizens, businesses and veteran's groups of McLean County.

On May 18. 2002, the FIFTY AMERICAN FLAGS LIVING MEMORIAL was officially presented to the community in a day long display at the site of the Moving Wall Memorial on the grounds of the Illinois Agricultural Association in Bloomington, Illinois.  Fifty American Flags, one flag to represent each of our states. Flags that represent all that we as Americans have worked for, lived for and died for.

The response and support from our
 community has been overwelming.  The
past five years has been a full calendar of events. We have participated in hundreds
of events and displays through Illinois and beyond. We now have two sets of
Fifty American Flags.  With the help
of  former Senator John Maitland , State Senator  Bill Brady and Representative
Dan Brady,  we received a State Flag
from each of our 50 states to create a
sister display of Fifty State Flags.

Our success with the Living Memorial is, without a doubt, a result of the support we have received from our sponsors and supporters. As we begin the summer months, the requests for the displays are already pouring in. We have had many requests for the same dates. We did not wish to turn any of these organizations away and to accommodate all the requests, we have another set of fifty American flags.
